Tips for Spain:
- Travel in late march or early April
- Be in Madrid on a Sunday
- The Museo Reina Sofia is free on Sundays
- Starting in April, every balmy Sunday evening the Plaza de Toros fills up around five in anticipation of a fight.
- Figure it out yourself!
- Also, it's always a good idea to be in a place on a Saturday evening or Sunday if a cathedral is the main attraction (free entry and a cultural experience)!
Seville
Unfortunately I have no convenient alliterations for Seville. If anything, it was tapas in Seville. We took a tapas tour. Fun people and plenty of good food made for a premium night. We had loads of tapas—the first place served more modern tapas while the second and third were more traditional. One girl asked for tequila at each place. After she asked the first time, our guide asked, “you mean you want a shot of the strong Mexican alcohol with your traditional Spanish tapas?”
Orange trees and intense heat struck me most about Seville... maybe after the tiny alleys and the massive cathedral (which we went in during a service for free!).
The hostel was pretty cool. It was a little house--it had a much desired kitchen and a terrace on top!
We made dinner the second night. It consisted of buying frozen pizza and pineapple. Upon returning to our hostel, however, we discovered the broken oven.
We microwaved the pizza until it was hot and ate the pineapple with it.
It wasn't so bad.
Since this, we've gone through Italy and are in Rome (recounts to follow). More meals than I expected have consisted of bread, cold hot dogs and an apple. Though we usually do some sort of classy meal deal in each city (like a pizza or pasta, a drink and gelato).
One of those or kebabs, I guess.
I like Kebabs and will miss them and the dirty stands from whence they come.
